Friday, February 19, 2021 – Sentiments by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna that most Luhya leaders were not upto the task, holds some water.
Lawyer Sifuna while appearing on recent KTN interview which was also attended by Former Kakamega gubernatorial candidate Boni Khalwale said those who call themselves Luhya kingpins had failed in the first place to address local concerns facing their region.
According to Sifuna – who is also a Luhya – the main pillars of economy in Western Region had collapsed in their eyes and to purport that they can resuscitate this country’s economy was a broad-day light lie that no any right thinking Kenyan can consume.
Sifuna while debating on who can make a better leader from Western Kenya observed that both Musalia Mudavadi and Senator Mosses Wetang’ula have nothing to show as their achievement in the area. He added that even from their speeches alone, one could easily tell how they keep repeating lies about their ability to help Kenya’s economy improve.
In a thin-veiled-attack to the duo, Mr. Sifuna said the two had taken advantage of poor innocent Kenyans to promise them a revamped economy a word they cannot define well themselves.
He noted that anyone can speak about economy but detailing how to implement it is the most important part which the so called Luhya leaders lack everyday.
He therefore singled our Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi as the only man from the region who has somewhat tried to elaborate and demonstrate how he can solve that quagmire.
The ODM Secretary General Sifuna detailed that Dr. Kituyi has displayed some knowledge and in-depth understanding of country’s economic challenges and their possible solutions. This is unlike other who claim to be economist who just speak without solutions.
“I have listened to Mukhisa Kituyi and I can tell you for a fact that his articulation of understanding of the problem when it comes to Kenyan’s economy, and he doesn’t dwell on over articulating of the problem, he can actually speak to the possible solutions. It has exposed these fake economists who run around just saying three words about economy,” he claimed.
According to Mr. Sifuna, his former counterpart from UNCTAD has some traceable work plan and therefore can have a solution that could help Kenyan economy if adopted.
