Wednesday, August 30, 2023 –Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has accused the Kenya Kwanza side of plotting to scuttle the ongoing Bomas of Kenya talks through insults.

Speaking on Spice FM on Wednesday August 30, the senator said the game-plan from the Rigathi Gachagua-led camp is to attack them with unending insults so that they (Azimio MPs) can abandon the talks table at the Bomas.

However, he said, the reason Azimio is on the talking table is not because of anything else but to address the plight of the poor Kenyan.

It is because of this reason that the Azimio camp will absorb any kind of insult from the Gachagua-led side without quiting.

“It doesn’t matter what people like Gachagua say to us. We are not walking out. They have figured us out but I will make sure this message gets to the table,” the Senator affirmed.

Sifuna added that Azimio had resolved to represent the common man in the village and the jobless who cannot afford a day meal and, in that respect, make sure the cost of living remains key agenda in the scheduled Ruto-Raila talks.

He warned the government against ignoring the voice of the people saying, at some point, the people will be heard come what may.

The vocal senator recounted how the Kenya Kwanza leaders voted in favor of the controversial Finance Act despite questionable clauses in it.

The ODM Party Secretary General said, this time around, Azimio will not be storming out of any negotiation progress despite the provocations.

He was saying this with regard to what Gachagua recently said to Raila. Gachagua was on record warning Odinga against talks that could lead to a Handshake.

“We are not against dialogue. We are not against Handshake. It’s good I tell you today. We fear you (Raila). You associated with our good son Uhuru Kenyatta, who loved us and worked for us. When you joined hand with him (Uhuru) , he turned against us. That is why when we hear about Handshake we fear,” Gachagua said.

The deputy president further mentioned that Mt. Kenya people fear the opposition boss because of his past with Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said this during the burial of Mau Mau fighter Brigadier John Kiboko at Ngorika Secondary School, Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, Gachagua said that he was not ready to allow opposition into their government.
