Tuesday, August 2, 2022 –The coming in of Mr. Mike Sonko has bolstered chances of Kenya Kwanza candidate Hassan Sarai Omar winning Mombasa gubernatorial race within the first round.
Latest poll conducted by Mizani Africa and released on Tuesday August 2 shows that Orange Democratic candidate, Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, is losing to KK candidate, Hassan Omar.
According to the pollster, United Democratic Alliance UDA’s Omar, has hit 42.4 percent popularity rating while Abdulswamad comes second with 40.5 percent.
“Sonko’s support for Kenya Kwanza may have created a paradigm shift in favour of Sarai,” read the poll.
Furthermore, William Kingi comes third with 10.6 percent while 4.9 percent of Mombasa County voters still remain undecided.
Mizani findings showed that 1.6 percent refused to respond on whom they will vote for as their governor in August 9 exercise.
The poll results have come just a day after the former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko endorsed Mr. Omar after he(Sonko) was barred by the Supreme Court from participating.
Apart from Nairobi, Sonko also has a big influence in Mombasa County and it may be the reason why the voters are now moving towards Hassan Omar’s candidature.
