Saturday, December 19, 2020 –After being shown the door, ex-Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko was forced to drive self back home.
A video has emerged on social media pages showing the flamboyant governor drive himself in a classy car headed to his home.
He was spotted alone in his Cadillac Escalade machine following and impeachment that saw his bodyguards, aides and drivers immediately recalled back for redeployment by the State.
“As I said before, there is life after politics. I am excited to go back to my life and to be with the ordinary people who have been supporting me all my political life.
“My good friend the Speaker of Senate (Ken Lusaka) told me he was under instructions from State to breach the law in presiding over my impeachment because he was scared of the wheelbarrow scandal which occurred when he was Bungoma Governor, being brought back,” Sonko claimed shortly after impeachment.
According to his reasoning, there was party pressure from rival camps to make sure he is send packing as soon as possible what would then seal his fate.
“I was not born in State House and my father was not President nor Prime Minister and Vice President as well. To my beautiful wife and daughter whose names were dragged into this mess while the trip was state-approved, continue to be strong women,” he said appearing to throw well calculated jibes at the two handshake partners – Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Though unsubstantiated, he went on to claim that those who voted him out were each paid sh 2 million in bribes.
And while driving his expensive machine, Sonko was also listening to a gospel tune loaded with message of hope for anyone under attack. The key message in the lyrics being ‘betrayal by people who posed as friends’.
