Friday, January 14, 2022 –Former Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion has blamed Raila Odinga for his woes while serving at teacher’s giant body KNUT.
In his speech in Belgut, Kericho County today Friday January 14, the ODM Party nominated lawmaker claimed that he lost his job at KNUT when Odinga joined hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Raila Odinga betrayed me by allowing the government he had joined to interfere with teachers’ union,” stated Sossion, during the burial of Kebeneti Secondary School principal Joel Mutai on Thursday.
He went ahead to link the handshake move by Odinga to his reason of ditching the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party for the newly formed Ruto’s UDA Party.
“That is why I joined UDA and I am now supporting Deputy President William Ruto for the presidency,” Sossion, who resigned as KNUT boss in June 2021 explained the fallout.
He opined tthat between Ruto and Raila, the former has a higher chance of becoming the next head of State after August 9th elections.
Sossion added that it was a betrayal for Raila to join Uhuru Kenyatta’s government which is corrupt and repressive on civil society groups.
“Civil societies and unions are dead. No one is speaking on behalf of Kenyans. They now want to finish political parties through the Political Parties Amendment Bill,” Sossion further ranted.
The ex-KNUT boss ouster from KNUT was stirred further by his differences with the Ministry of Education under Prof George Magoha.
He constantly blamed Magoha for imposing a different learning curriculum to learners as well as making sure Unions don’t survive within the education sector.
