Wednesday, August 10, 2022 –City tycoon Ronald Karauri of Sportpesa gambling firm has won Kasarani Parliamentary seat.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC today Wednesday August 10 reported that Mr Karauri won with 32,315 votes against Mercy Gakuya of Jubilee ruling party who got 24,967 votes.
The leading gambler lost in their bungled nomination exercise prompting him to switch to independent side so that to continue with his political ambitions.
In several Tv and Radio interviews, the youthful and industrious Karauri indicated that bad laws in the country had affected most betting firms and, in particular, his own company and therefore his joining politics would see him push for fair laws to safeguard the industry.
In his position as an MP, he will now be able to introduce amendments as well as push fellow MPs in protecting his business empire.
Karauri is a pilot by profession
