Sunday, May 9, 2021 -Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai has ordered probe into a video in which a female police cop is heard pleading for resignation from the police service.
Mutyambai on Sunday May 9, ordered Gender and Children Directorate to start an immediate probe into sexual assault claims in the police.
Through the 3 minute video which has gone viral, the female officer could be heard lamenting about mistreatment in the service and how her calls to resign have been given a deaf year for a longer time.
“Sir, kindly allow me to resign from the police office because I can thrive elsewhere. Even if it means, resigning without pay, I will not mind,” she said.
In a tell it all version, she indicated that such frustrations had led to many police officers taking their own lives.
“I just want a chance to resign peacefully. I have attached several letters meant for the IG but they never get to him. That is why police officers get frustrated to a point of committing suicide or killing themselves, something I cannot do,” she said.
The lady also asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to quickly disband the Interval Affairs office saying those running it were corrupt.
“Officials in that office are full of corruption yet they get a salary at the end of the month. They don’t solve any cases, that’s why police kill cause of such problems,” she concluded.
IG Mutyambai has promised to follow up the matter to the latter so that this rot could be established and uprooted for once.
