Stop Meddling in Azimio Matters – Chege

Wednesday, May 4, 2022 –Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has asked Kenya Kwanza politicians to desist from poking noses in Azimio matters.

Appearing on NTv panel with Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior and Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday May 3 night, Ms Chege wondered how, all of a sudden, all Ruto-allied politicians were interested in Azimio discussions when they have their coalition which they can concentrate on.

At Mutham home where they had all gone to condole the family, this group seemed like they are now defending Kalonzo more than anybody else. This is a suspicious move which everyone wants to know the details,” she stated.

And while responding to questions and reservations from the two senators, Ms Chege simply said it was not going to be correct for their rivals in Kenya Kwanza to continue being allowed to meddle in the matters that they shouldn’t.

She reminded the two lawmakers that Mr. Musyoka was part of the team that came up with the Azimio advisory committee whose mandate can also be to choose a running mate.

“Humility is a virtue, we saw DP Ruto going for an interview and answering questions for him to be confirmed as UDA presidential candidate. I don’t think you can say that was a lack of respect.

“When the decision was made, Kalonzo was there. He has a person in the panel a privilege not everybody had. He had no problem at the council. We have had Raila and Kalonzo running as a pact, they didn’t win. It’s important for everybody to have an open mind. In fact let me tell you that Kalonzo and Raila meet every often for a cup of tea,” she went on.

But in a sharp rejoinder, Mutula insisted that they will not be allowing their boss Mr. Kalozno to attend such an exercise whose outcome is already known.

“Let all the Azimio running mate hopefuls meet and select one of them instead of the panel interviews. If they sit somewhere and decide quietly and come and tell us who the candidate is, even the supporters are bound to that decision,” Mutula noted.

On his part, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Murkomen reached out to Kalonzo and his supporters asking him to dump those who are humiliating them so that to join their ‘winning team’.
