Wednesday, January 18, 2023 –Fire-spitting Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has told off President William Ruto over ‘Chebukati integrity’ claims.
Taking to his socials, Babu asked the head of State to stop praising Chebukati every day in public since this had turned into irritating noise.
“Can the President and Chebukati stop making noise to Kenyans about the past election. It is water under the bridge. Mr President, it’s time to stop singing and start swinging. Work for the People of Kenya,” he wrote.
His reaction is coming barely a day after the President had said Constitutional Commissions and Independent offices are integral to the prosperity and stability of any country.
Citing Mr. Chebukati, President Ruto noted that the IEBC Chairperson had performed extra-ordinarily well while serving Kenyans.
“The promise of our Constitution is partly dependent on the integrity and vigilance of Commissions and independent offices. They are the auditors of the auditors; they watch over the watchmen.
“That is what integrity looks like when working for the people of Kenya; standing with the Constitution, braving pressure and resisting threats,” Ruto said.
The head of State was speaking on Tuesday January 17 afternoon during a meeting with Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices held at the Statehouse, Nairobi.
