Monday, February 28, 2022 –Musalia Mudavadi’s party has warned MP Rigathi Gachagua over his latest remarks on running mate position.

Gachagua, on Monday February 28, said that the running mate position was a preserve of the Mount Kenya people, what triggered an immediate response from Amani National Congress ANC Party which reminded him that the alliance was yet to discuss the matter exhaustively.

“It is, therefore, our considered opinion that Rigathi Gachagua should transition from regional UDA mindset to embrace the broader picture of Kenya Kwanza philosophy.

In an official statement signed by ANC Party Secretary General Simon Gikuru, ANC cautioned the Mathira lawmaker against making reckless remarks over the entire Kenya Kwanza coalition before sharing with the key principals.

According to the Musalia Mudavadi-led ANC, the running mate position would be discussed at an appropriate time and no one can purport to lecture them on the issue. ANC described Rigathi as a junior in Kenya Kwanza.

Kenya Kwanza coalition has not decided on its presidential and running mate candidates. This will happen and be unveiled at an appropriate time by our principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula,” read part of the statement.

Mr. Simon Gikuru new Secretary General ANC Party.

This exchange was triggered by the fact that the coalition had not decided on who should lead the campaigns in the absence of Ruto and Mudavadi who are currently on a tour in the United States.

Musalia and Ruto are expected to remain in America and London for a period of 10 days. They will have a series of diplomatic engagements with US government officials and Kenyan citizens in the diaspora.
