Tension as Atwoli, Lawyer Ahmednasir Tear Into Each Other

Sunday, October 15, 2023 –Francis Atwoli and Nairobi lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi are embroiled in a bitter online spat over their academic qualifications.

Their Sunday October 15 public exchanges started after Lawyer Ahmednasir blasted the COTU boss for supporting quack lawyer Brian Mwenda who is still on the run after he was busted representing clients in court without having qualification papers to that effect.

Lawyer Ahamednasir who has differed with those who are pledging loyalty to Brian, said both Francis Atwoli and former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko dropped out of school in standard four and that their rise to stardom remains questionable to date.

“Is it mere coincidence that the most vociferous and squeaky supporters of Mr. Brian Mwenda are Gov Sonko and Dr Francis Atwoli, two Kenyans who left school at class 7?” Lawyer Abdullahi claimed.

Angered by the comments, immediately, Mr. Atwoli delivered a response likening the lawyer to Brian by claiming Abdullahi also forged papers at pupillage level.

“You should be proud of your twin because he represents your younger self. Like Brian, you, allegedly committed forgery by attaining a Certificate of Completion of Pupillage without attending pupillage as required by the Advocates Act.

“But you’ve risen to be a top advocate. My only concern is that you’ve become more of a swindler than an advocate,” Atwoli hit back.

He also delved into their history of differences which started many years ago when Lawyer Ahmednasir wanted to swindle money from the National Security Fund NSSF claiming he had represented the organisation in court.

“Without reminding you where we disagreed on unjust demands of millions you had made at NSSF and of which I stopped. What is LSK doing about rogue advocates like you?” he posed.

And to debunk the myth of his wanting educational background, the COTU Secretary General noted that he undertook extensive studies on industrial relations and international labour standards in reputable schools abroad.

“I have credentials from the ILO College of International Labour Studies in Turin, Italy and the George Mini Labour centre in Maryland, USA. I am tried and tested with unmatched experience on labour issues, not just in the continent but globally,” added Atwoli.

Mr. Atwoli has been a long-serving COTU top official in Kenya for decades and who is also active in matters national politics.
