Chrispen

Thursday, November 18, 2021 –Counter Terrorism Policing CTP has effected the arrest of three terror inmates who had escaped from the Kamiti Maximum Prison a couple of days ago.

Latest reports have confirmed that the three convicts – Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda (34), Joseph Juma Odhiambo (30) and Mohammed Ali Abikar (35) – were cornered at Enzio Forest in Mwingi Kitui County while en-route Somalia.

The now sacked Commissioner General of Prisons Service, Wycliffe Ogalo.

The dangerous convicts escaped from the highly guarded prison facility in the country – Kamiti – after they reportedly dislodged a brick on the wall of their cell. They would then improvise a makeshift lift using blankets, strings and broomsticks which they used to scale two high walls around the correctional facility.

Their escape created a disharmony within the prison department leading to several arrests of warders on duty who were believed to have aided the process.

And on Wednesday November 17, the head of State chaired a crisis meeting in which he weighed into the matter by ordering Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i to deploy every possible machinery to make sure the culprits are brought to book.

He directed that anyone found to have been part of the dirty scheme should be subjected to the full force of law.

Prison bosses led by Wickliffe Ogalo were then relieved of their duties and taken for an interrogation at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI Headquarters along Kiambu Road.

The DCI would also announce a sh 60 million offer to anyone with information about the escaped trio.
