Thursday, January 12, 2023 –Raila Odinga together with wife Ida Odinga shot themselves in the foot when they started calling for the reduction of churches in the country.
Former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has said Azimio la Umoja leaders made a big blunder to take their war on churches during the campaign season.
Worse, Raila and Ida made this gaffe at the peak of the last general election when anything a leader said was going to be used against him or her.
The Nakuru based lawmaker noted that this recklessness did not only cost Raila the presidency but also exposed his weak faith in a religious country.
“The last thing that got us those 200,000 votes is when Raila’s wife said they are going to make sure churches in Kenya are going to be reduced like those in Rwanda, that gave us a lot of mileage,” the politician said.
He argued that after Ida Odinga made the utterances, Raila supported this in another event days later putting the last nail to his coffin.
“Raila repeated this when he came to Nakuru, saying there are permanent churches brought by wazungu, which were going to be dealt with.
“The church gave us many votes because of that threat,” added Ngunjiri.
Ngunjiri who is a close associate of President Ruto linked Raila’s threats to what Rwanda’s head of State Paul Kagame did in his country. He shut down more than 6000 churches after questioning their activities.
