This is my Biggest Headache – Ruto

Chrispen

Thursday, January 11, 2023 -President William Ruto now says he is facing challenges dealing with the debt crisis in the country amid tax increament.

Addressing party members in Nakuru Statehouse today Thursday January 11, President Ruto said he only remains with sh 3 for every sh 10 collected as tax.

“The only problem is debt and that is what has been the biggest headache for the last year. If for every sh 10 collected, sh 7 goes towards debt then there is a big  problem.

“The remaining sh 3 shilling then is used to pay for salaries, pay money to county governments and develop the country. My intention is to flip it,” Dr. Ruto said.

To defend his resolve to increase tax bracket, the head of State said, this remains his only option for now.

He reminded the country that he is following in Kibaki foot steps to reduce debt so that Kenya can rely on self taxes collected.

He added that Kibaki regime relied on the VAT to settle the crisis; what should be emulated today.
