Monday, August 5, 2024 –Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has shared rare details on what transpired between him and President William Ruto before agreeing to join the government.
Speaking at Toi Market today Monday August 5, Mr. Odinga revealed that the Kenya Kwanza government was facing serious leadership challenges before rushing to him for a quick fix which he had to offer for the sake of stability.
He told his supporters at Toi Market that it was after the constant begging from President William Ruto that he(Odinga) had to finally agree to share the government so that to help make things work.
The ODM leader exuded confidence that President William Ruto’s new broad-based government will now live up to the expectations of Kenyans.
Raila said his party has people who will help the president deliver on his pledges. He said the president disbanded the old Cabinet and asked to be given able people who will assist him to deliver efficiently and professionally.
Raila, therefore, gave a nod to the new-look government formation that has four members of his party nominated in various positions including plum Energy and the Treasury dockets.
“Ruto wanted me to help him resolve leadership challenges brought about by incompetence Cabinet. He came begging and kneeling down before I assigned my four able men to join his Cabinet amid Gen Zs protests; be sure they will deliver,” Mr. Odinga added.
The opposition honcho said Ruto’s administration was broken down and was going to struggle for a long time trying to make things work for the country. And it is because of this that he(Odinga) had to jump in to help.
That the grand entry of ODM top team will quickly try to turn things around to the expectations of the whole nation.
Odinga was saying this accompanied by scores of his teammates among them Senator Edwin Sifuna who seized the opportunity to grief with recently affected families in the Toi Market inferno.
