Tuesday, may 18, 2021 -Five dangerously armed bank robbers have been shot dead in Kakamega while escaping from Nairobi where they had reportedly broken into a bank.
The five met their brutal dearth near Makhokho area along Kakamega-Kisumu road on their way to Kakamega town.
Ugly scenes emerged from the area where the shooting was carried out with eyewitnesses recounting how the driver of the salon car which was ferrying the thugs wanted to escape first after noticing the flying squad but, unfortunately, he was met with a brutal bullet on his head. The other three, on trying to escape, too got shot and died on the spot.
Our sources claimed that one police officer was badly injured in the crossfire and rushed to the nearby Mukumu Mission Hospital along the same highway.
“Happening now at Sigalagala, 5 bank thieves shot dead, followed from Nairobi, one police officer injured,” Susan posted on Facebook.
Cases of robbery have been on the rise since the Coronavirus pandemic hit the country. Many of those who lost their jobs have now resorted to criminal activities to fend for their families.
