Monday, May 13, 2024 –The country has continued to react over the impeachment motion that saw embattled Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi survive in a multimillion fake fertilizer scandal.
Attempts by the Azimio-led Members of Parliament MPs to protest attempts by Kenya Kwanza camp to save the CS Mr. Linturi could not go far as seven MPs allied to the William Ruto outfit were hellbent on saving Linturi from looming ouster.
Leading the Azimio la Umoja side was Minority leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi whose attempts to force Linturi out of office was rendered weak by the government side.
“Even if this House attempts to allow Mithika Linturi to go scot-free, in the fullness of time, each and every person involved in this racket will have a date with destiny,” Leader of Minor told the House.
Reacting on the outcome news after Linturi was saved by about seven MPs out of 11, Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi linked this to a sh 5 million each bribe to Committee MPs.
“I told you my people…5m×11=Hon Mithika Linturi’s acquttal! I told you my people!!!” he screamed on X platform.
On Sunday night, seven out of 11 committee members investigating Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi’s involvement in the multimillion fake fertilizer scandal voted to save him from the impeachment.
Samuel Chepkong’a (UDA, Ainabkoi) abstained from voting. The committee chaired by Marsabit Woman Representative Naomi Wago is now bound by the Constitution to report back to the House within 10 days.
