Friday, August 19, 2022 –Top Nairobi-based lawyer, Donald Kipkorior, has delivered a swift advice to Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya brigade over the just concluded general election.

Speaking on the matter on Friday August 19 afternoon, the respected lawyer pointed out that the current Constitution allows the Supreme Court to declare the winner of a presidential election on the account of figures alone.

He argued that the Supreme Court Judge(s) has powers to look and examine the figures put before him or her and make a final declaration without going through the gruesome hearing process.

“Our Supreme Court has inherent jurisdiction to correct arithmetic errors without substantive hearing. If AZIMIO seeks the prayer of Correction of Arithmetic Errors & demonstrate beyond peradventure that Baba won, then Baba can be declared President without Fresh Elections,” he said.

Mr. Kipkorir went on to state that a fresh election is only called if irregularities are proven. Correction of arithmetic errors isn’t an irregularity but what is caked on a mere slip.

He then confirmed that these Presidential election could turn on mathematics alone should proper reconciliation of KIEMS KIT and voter tallying be done by the Court.
