Thursday, February 8, 2024 -President William Ruto who is in Japan has announced his plans with Toyota Company to set up base in Kenya for Toyota manufacturing.
In a statement seen by Kenyawide.com on Thursday February 8, Dr. Ruto said the setting up of the manufacturing plant will help bring closer the millions of car Kenya and Africa, as a whole, keep importing into the continent.
“We are engaging the Toyota Tsusho Corporation to consider setting a vehicle manufacturing plant in Kenya to tap into the growing demand for its products.
“The manufacturing project would reduce the number of used vehicles we continue to import and create jobs for our skilled manpower,” he stated.
Ruto accompanied by PCS Musalia Mudavadi, Trade CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Energy’s Davis Chirchir flew to Japan two days ago for what the government said was a State visit.
Among other engagements, the head of State has signed bilateral agreements with his counterpart in Japan.
The commander-in-chief remarked that Kenya is glad that the Japan Bank for International Cooperation JBIC is keen to finance investment in strategic projects, including energy and ICT.
On his side, CS Murkomen alongside Chuirchir, witnessed the signing of the Framework Agreement For Collaboration between Kenya and Toyota Tsusho Corporation and later toured the Toyota Motamachi Factory.
