The ethics agency, today Wednesday July 31, flagged the former Kakamega county boss in the multimillion scandals during his tenure at the helm of the county.
For that reason, the agency has written to the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments to reject Oparanya’s name during the vetting exercise until he is cleared of any wrong doing in the ongoing court cases.
EACC made the statement today Wednesday even as the vetting exercise is expected to officially start tomorrow on Thursday at the Mini-Chamber, County Hall, Parliament Buildings from 8AM.
The vetting of President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries nominees is set to commence early Thursday.
Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Prof. Kithure Kindiki will be the first to appear before the Wetang’ula led committee in the morning.
Kindiki will be seeking to convince the committee to give him a second chance to serve in the same position which President Ruto had appointed him to serve in September 2022 until the Cabinet was dismissed two weeks ago.
