Tuesday, February 20, 2024 –Igembe South Member of Parliament John Paul Mwirigi was on Tuesday involved in a freak road accident that almost claimed his life.
The accident which took place at Chuka in Meru County, reportedly took place at Kirubia area when their car veered off the road, rolling from one side.
Eyewitnesses told the media that all the occupants did not sustain serious injuries including the member of parliament who was only rushed for medical checkup.
Looking at the photos from the accident scene, the car’s front side was deformed as its light also shattered. The tyres were also deflated in the accident.
An anonymous resident reported that the area has recorded now four major accidents culminating in the loss of lives. Meanwhile, the MP is yet to comment on the incident.
Paul Mwirigi is serving his second term in Parliament after winning the seat on first Jubilee Party ticket in 2017 before switching to the United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.
The first car he owned was bought for him by former President Uhuru Kenyatta who had learnt that the MP had not acquired any car in his life.
