Monday, February 28, 2022 –Mr. Omingo Magara has quit United Democratic Alliance UDA Party over democracy-related issues.

Making the announcement on Monday February 28, Magara who has been serving as UDA Party national treasurer argued that he would rather join People Democratic Party PDP which is led by Okoth Obado.

Mr. Omingo Magara.

Magara had earlier shared with his close friends some of the reasons that were forcing him to quit his UDA position.

“For a long time, I have harboured an ambition to be the Kisii County Governor through the UDA party where I was also the national treasurer. However, there have since been developments that render my candidature through the UDA Party impossible,” he explained.

Magara, a former MP, head already declared his interest in the Kisii County gubernatorial contest through Ruto’s UDA Party.

Just last week, the Director of Youth Affairs in the Office of DP Ruto, Anthony Kibagendi also from Kisii, resigned and joined Raila’s energized Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Ms Margaret Karungaru who also ditched UDA.

The resignations of Magara and Kibagendi has left DP Ruto at a difficult position now that he has lost key figures from Kisii Region where Odinga enjoys massive following.

Interestingly, earlier, Nyeri County’s former First Lady, Margaret Karungaru Gachagua, also ditched UDA citing similar reasons.. She announced that she will be running for Woman Representative position either through Jubilee or as an independent candidate.
