Monday, May 13, 2024 –Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has singled out the special parliamentary committee chairlady. Hon Naomi Waqo as a problem after her committee saved Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi from removal.
Taking to his official X Platform with a riveting statement today Monday May 13, Senator Kahlwale noted that the back stops with the chairlady and, therefore, this is her responsibility to tell the country why she thinks Linturi had not committed an economic crime.
“The fulcrum of a special parliamentary committee is its chairman. Hon Waqo, chair of the select committee on dismissal of Mithika Linturi! The mercurial & incomparable late Hon Dr. Bonaya Godana, who hailed from her community, might surely have turned in his grave!,” noted Khalwale.
The lawmaker has, however, indicated a little more hope in the way his boss President William Ruto is going to handle the matter even after the committee leaned on Mr. Linturi’s side.
Upto now, despite concerns from the public, the commander-in-chief has kept a laud silence on the matter currently still in Parliament.
“I firmly believe that on this one, the president will use his emmence constitutional powers and make the hard decision to keep his course on the fight against corruption by standing with the farmers who were scammed,” further stated Khalwale.
Linturi, a former senator and now CS Agriculture, is accused of orchestrating a multimillion fake fertilizer distribution to farmers across the country.
Seven out of eleven Mps in the said special committee voted to save Linturi from the impeachment.
