Sunday, July 23, 2023 –The government has ordered former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family to surrender all guns in their possession.
On that note, the family is expected to surrender not less than 28 weapons registered in their names to the Firearm Licensing Board FLB in Nairobi.
The Star landed on a video showing a police officer explaining to the family that he had been sent by the chairperson of the Firearm Licensing Board Yakub Rashid to collect the guns.
The events are coming just a day after Kenyatta’s son home was raided by police officers searching for unlicensed firearms.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki would come out to explain that there are homes in Karen area which are hiding guns being used by the opposition to carry out violent demonstrations in the country.
Uhuru who was agitated by the move, vowed to keep his family safe amid attacks and intimidations adding that the government was allowed to take away all the State security so that he can hire his private guards.
“The fact that I have been silent does not mean I am scared. Come for me if it is me that you want,” Uhuru said.
“I did the best I could do for my country and I handed over when my time was finished and I will now do the best to defend my family,” he said.
He went ahead to ask the William Ruto-led administration to settle any political scores with him rather than going for his family including the 90-year old mother.
“My only plea is don’t plan against my mother or my children. Plan for me if it is me you want. What do they have to do with anything,” Uhuru said.
He wondered how, all of a sudden, he had turned into an illegal firearm holder.
