Tuesday, October 19, 2021 –President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged his Mt Kenya people to ignore politics of handouts because they will make them slaves to some politicians.
Addressing during a rally he held at Sagana in Kirinyaga County on Monday October 18, Uhuru indirectly lambasted his deputy for brainwashing locals of Mt Kenya with short term goodies for political reasons.
He urged everyone to make informed decision over who they want to elect in leadership in 2022 saying any mistake will be too costly for them.
“I keep wondering. When the person wakes up in the morning, all they do is tell stories, go to another place the next day and tell stories as well. At what time will that person work, the person seems to be inciting people as well.”
“Young people especially are being lied to, why can’t you tell them to empower you so that you can help yourself instead of relying on handouts?” the President charged.
Uhuru though encouraged tolerance, advised locals from his backyard to be cautious with what they are being promised so that they can make wise decision during the next polls.
He also seized the opportunity to ask both Governor Anne Waiguru and Woman Representative Purity Ngirici to stop fighting each other and instead focus their energies and mind on service delivery.
The head of State further asked Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho to also go slow on local politics so that Jubilee can complete its term in peace.
The trio has been at constant loggerheads due to succession politics of 2022 with Ngirici and Kibicho promising to unseat the incumbent Waiguru whom they have described as incompetent.
