Sunday, April 3, 2022 –President Uhuru Kenyatta has broken his silence over the recent incident that saw former Prime Minister Raila Odinga hurled with stones in Uasin Gishu County during the burial of Mzee Jackson Kibor.
Uhuru who was addressing congregants at AIC Church in Pipeline, Nairobi County, on Sunday, April 3, noted that it was looking bad and unnecessary to try to use force to gain power.
He instead urged leaders to be careful with whatever step they take against their rivals since this could again plunge the country to another chaos.
“So ask ourselves, if you take a stone or a slasher to go and cut your friend instead of waiting for the next five years to elect your leader of choice, then you have lost direction,” Uhuru remarked.
The head of State further observed that elections come and go and, therefore, it should not be used to destroy a country which has to remain there for generations to come.
“Elections come and go. Sometimes people behave like elections is a matter of life and death, we have had it every five years since independence from the colonizers and even this one will come and we shall have another in five years.
He was speaking this just hours after a section of Rift Valley politicians were summoned in relation to the stoning of Raila Odinga’s chopper in Iten.
The chopper’s windscreen was shuttered while Azimio leaders were on board leading to unnecessary delays.
