Wednesday, June 1, 2022 –President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech during the marking of the 59 Madaraka Day celebration saw him launch indirect barbs at his deputy.
It first started when he snubbed Ruto during his thanksgiving ceremony held at Statehouse in which Ruto was conspicuously absent followed by lack of recognition in his official Madaraka Day speech at delivered at Uhuru Gardens venue.
Uhuru, instead, urged the country to avoid voting into power people who could mess his legacy for political reasons.
The head of State, while issuing his achievements, said a milestone in development can only be met if there is little noise in the political atmosphere. He also recounted how he had to devise ways to deal with runway corruption which was quickly eating down his leadership.
The president mentioned Kenya Meet Commission KMC which he claimed was being looted by some individuals who had hijacked his government in the guise of helping him run government affairs.
President Kenyatta went further in his speech to accuse DP William Ruto of grabbing the Wilson Airport land which hosts the infamous Ruto’s Weston Hotel.
“When land matters were handled using a manual registry -the Ministry of Lands thus became a den of corruption. Part of the Wilson Airport here had a title deed registered in the name of a private individual,” the president highlighted.
And in an open campaign against the DP, Uhuru listed the great milestone his administration had reached by involving women in leadership positions. He stated that the country will even make history if they elect the Raila-Martha Karua pair into power.
