Thursday, August 12, 2021 -In has emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta asked the other National Super Alliance NASA principals to back ODM Party leader Raila Odinga for 2022.

This took place during their Tuesday meeting held in Mombasa at Statehouse and which was hosted by the head of State.

The Star has established that Mr. Kenyatta took the team through a blow by blow account to prove to them that it is Odinga who stands a higher chance of beating Ruto and anything else would lead to an early loss.

Those privy to the happening revealed that the President presented a scientific and latest opinion poll which puts Raila ahead of the rest. He is until now the most popular opposition figure to lead the rest of the team.

Those present were One Kneya Alliance members Gideon Moi, Moses Wetang’ula, Musalia Mudavadi, and Wiper Democratic boss Kalonzo Musyoka. Also present was outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana.

In the next polls, Uhuru is gearing towards supporting Odinga against Ruto with hopes that this will make it difficult for his defiant deputy to succeed him.

“The President warned the team they will lose to Ruto if they don’t unite and face him as a team,” an associate from the meeting told the Star.

However, during the meeting, there was no deal which was reached with ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula furiously protesting about the presence of Oparanya in their meeting. They wanted to know under which circumstances was Oparanya attending and in what capacity.

“The two felt that Oparanya’s invitation was meant to undermine them and openly protested in the presence of the President,” the source said.

Oparanya at the moment is the deputy of Raila Odinga in their ODM Party and Odinga has oflate been glued to him in any high profile meeting he goes.

Homenews.co.ke has also learnt that, within the team, Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi have already started having a soft spot for Raila’s leadership.
