Saturday, July 29, 2023 –Forth President Uhuru Kenyatta is mulling over his next step should government take over his Jubilee Party.
In the latest Jubilee party updates from its top leadership, it has been hinted that Uhuru may soon switch to The Party of National Unity PNU should this government eventually succeed in grabbing his Jubilee Party from him.
Beleaguered Jubilee Party Secretary Jeremiah Kioni has told the media that, among many other options they have ready on the table, is to revive PNU any time so that not to allow government to fully take over their Mt. Kenya Region.
Kioni noted that, Uhuru will not be relenting from protecting Mt. Kenya support from dirty outside politics which are meant to divide the region.
“If the government of the day decides to take over, the alternative for the community is to exit.
“As the SG, I can say that the perception that by taking the Jubilee party then they take Mt Kenya is a lie. One of the options open to us is any other party including PNU,” Embattled Kioni stated.
Reports about revival of PNU – formerly owned by Mwai Kibaki – emerged when analysts established that Uhuru was already preparing ground for an alternative home should courts hand over his Jubilee to the rival camp of Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega.
It is reported that Mr. Kenyatta has started installing new leaders in PNU Party; a sign enough that he was now ready for anything.
For instance, on Friday July 28, ex-Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya was made PNU Party leader.
Furthermore, former Education Chief Administrative Secretary Zachariah Kinuthia was appointed the national organising secretary.
Mr. John Okemwa retained his position as Secretary-General in the party formerly led by Kenya’s third president, the late Mwai Emillio Kibaki.
This, according to various political analysts, is an arrangement Uhuru is behind so that to remain in politics and influential not only around Mt. Kenya but also nationally.
