Tuesday, January 31, 2023 –Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has poured cold water on tax claims made by the ruling government on his family.
In his Tuesday January 31 response to President William Ruto, Uhuru simply laughed off the plans to target his family and described this as sideshows that will end nowhere.
Promising to stick by the rule of law, the ex-head of State said he will not interfere with his predecessor’s way of governing the country despite being triggered.
“Don’t worry about these people who are making noise, people who have nothing else to do will always make noise. That’s life. We’ll mind our business,” Uhuru stated.
Wiper Party leader who together with Margaret Kenyatta accompanied Uhuru to George Magoha’s Lavington Nairobi home, faulted President Ruto and his team for wrongly targeting the former first family.
He termed this fight as a political witch-hunt which does not deserve space in the leadership of any nation.
“What would George do on hearing that his number one is now being victimized? I want to tell you Kenyans if anybody was today going to victimize President Uhuru Kenyatta, I don’t know what would happen to this country,” Kalonzo argued.
Today morning, a section of Kenya Kwanza-allied leaders continued urging President William Ruto to go after the former first family and force them to pay sh 1.2 billion unpaid taxes.
They added that a proper audit of the records of past regime ought to be conducted and anybody found to have flouted the law should be charged accordingly.
“H.E Ruto should ask Uhuru to step down from his role of Peace envoy to DRC for continued undermining of our govt. His role in Azimio-OKA activities of allegedly funding Maandamos/ political rallies is proof enough. Taxes must paid regardless of who you are !. Ushuru ulipwe!” Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei stated.
He challenged the former head of State to be man enough and face-off with William Ruto rather than going through Raila Odinga.
