Wednesday, January 25, 2023 – President Uhuru Kenyatta still recognizes Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga as his preferred leader.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Tuesday January 24 said, despite, Uhuru handing over power to Ruto in peace, he had not changed his earlier stand on who he liked most between Odinga and Ruto.

“Uhuru made it public that he would hand over power, but Raila was his leader of choice, and he cannot undo the handing over because he does not want to stain his hands,” Kioni said in an early morning interview.

The former Ndaragwa MP reasoned that Uhuru decided to hand over power to Ruto not because he liked it but because the law required that to happen to the person who had been declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC.

This decision once made it becomes had to rescind and, to make the matters worse, Uhuru cannot withdraw back the power he handed Ruto.

Kioni added that Mr. Odinga – who is their coalition boss – will lead activities that they think would achieve the purpose of their team.

“When we continue pushing for what we believe in as Azimio, the party leader is Raila Odinga and the activities of the party are dictated more by the party leader and the secretary-general,” Kioni said.

Asked a bout those in Jubilee joining William Ruto’s government. Mr. Kioni referenced Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega’s action as juvenile political behavior.

“These are people we keep nursing, helping to move on. Maybe later in life, they will stabilise in what they believe in and where they want to belong,” the Secretary-General explained to the host.

This discussion was triggered by the recent Kamukunji Grounds declaration by Mr. Odinga that William Ruto must not be recognized by supporters countrywide.

Odinga, fearlessly, stated that the Kenya Kwanza government stole his victory and does not deserve respect from across board.
