Friday, July 28, 2023 –Azimio has today gifted protest victims a whopping sh 1million as part of its support to affected supporters and families.
This is after former head of State Uhuru Kenyatta made a surprise appearance at the SKM Command Center in Karen Nairobi where other Azimio la Umoja leaders had gathered for a requiem mass dubbed Interdenominational Prayers to remember those injured and killed in the ongoing demos.
Mr. Kenyatta, who is the Chairman of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya, arrived at the venue driving self in G-Wagon Mercedes car.
He was received by several politicians among them Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi and former Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
The team would proceed to lay flowers in honour of those who had lost lives through the bullet on the streets.
The leaders would then start making their contributions is support of the families. Kenyatta and Odinga each parted with sh 1Million for the noble course.
On the other hand, Wiper Party leader donated his sh 500,000, Eugene Wamalwa sh 200,000 while the rest of Azimio MPs put together sh 1.5million as all Azimio governors who were present waived any hospital bills for maandamano victims in their areas.
Additionally, Azimio used the opportunity to launch a Paybill Account for monetary contributions to help the victims; with a promise to provide way forward on the next anti-government protests. They are scheduled to meet on Sunday, July 30.
Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua was conspicuously missing as Jeremiah Kioni, and former Murang’a County Governor Mwangi wa Iria showed up early.
