Tuesday, August 10, 2021 -The meeting that saw President Uhuru Kenyatta meet all the opposition leaders at Statehouse Mombasa on Tuesday did not discuss anything BBI. It has emerged.
It comprised ODM Party boss Raila Odinga, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi of KANU and Moses Wetang’ula of Ford Kenya.
A reliable source has informed Homenews.co.ke that the leaders focused their discussion on the Covid-19 Pandemic, unity of the nation ahead of the 2022 polls, economical challenges currently affecting the country, and corruption.
“Among the subjects discussed by the leaders were, Covid-19’s impact on the country and how to revamp the economy; and the importance of maintaining peace, unity and national cohesion,” Statehouse wrote on Twitter.

Uhuru had invited the four One Kenya Alliance OKA principals who were also joined by ODM Party leader in the discussions that lasted for hours.
Together with invited guests, Mr, Kenyatta also touched on the subject of peace, national cohesion among a few more national matters.
Sources told us that there was no much talk on politics and the Building Bridges Initiative BBI which is still hanging in court.
“The Head of State was concerned by the disunity exhibited by the Opposition politicians, and wanted to implore upon them to forge a united outfit that would compete against the DP,” revealed a State official about Uhuru’s meeting.
Earlier on, Ford Kenya Party officials had confirmed having been invited to Mombasa for the meeting.
Interestingly, conspicuously missing in the team was Deputy President William Ruto who was busy hosting Kitui Members of County Assembly at his Karen residence, Nairobi.
