Deputy President William Ruto is still busy pushing to have all his views accommodated in the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Report.
Well-placed sources have reported to Homenews that the DP’s delegation held a night long meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s team last Sunday December 6th with an aim of making sure their views are fully included in the whole Report so that to save their face.
Ruto is keen on making sure he doesn’t stage any early fights with his boss because this may make sure he is finally elbowed out of his office for daring the boss.
Murang’a Senator who is also Chief Whip at the Senate Irungu Kang’ata disclosed that this development was in consultation with the Orange Democratic Party leader Raila Odinga.
He revealed how the meeting between Ruto and Uhuru’s teams centered strictly around finding a concession for the Building Bridges Initiative BBI.
“I informed Odinga through Minority Leader James Orengo and they are fine with the talks,” Kang’ata stated.
It is further revealed that the crafty Ruto through his emissaries promised to help Uhuru collect more BBI Signatures only if their proposals are included.
Ruto is demanding a multiple choice Referendum and also pushing for only 500 Members of National Assembly with 47 woman representative to sit in the National Assembly and other 47 in the Senate.
Another disturbing proposal included calls to make sure equalization fund is managed at the county level as opposed to how it is done today.
“We have no issue with this proposal, as long as the one-man, one-shilling principle stands,” Kang’ata disclosed.
Kenyans.co.ke reported that Uhuru’s team is now looking at everything Ruto is pushing for and may choose to abide by or ignore but this will be done in full consultation with Mr. Odinga.
