Tuesday, May 4, 2021 -The meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his guest from Tanzania Samia Suluhu has seen them sign a sh 100 billion deal.
It was confirmed that there Tuesday May 4 discussion held at Statehouse Kenya resulted into a deal that will see Tanzania put up a sh 100 billion gas pipeline from Dar es Salam to Kenya’s Mombasa.
Details indicated that the pipeline is planned to go through the Port of City of Tanga to Mombasa Kenya. Its main work will be to channel natural gas between the two countries.
Suluhu took that chance to praise the corporation Kenya has accorded her country especially in form of investment opportunities. She observed that Kenya’s government has also been investing a lot in her country hence improving livelihood of her people.
President Samia further observed that, upto now, her country has a total of 513 projects from Kenya that have created job opportunities in her country.
“We are not only neighbours geographically, but have other elements in common such as culture, language and shared heritage,” Samia stated.
According to economists, if the gas project is completed as planned, it will help reduce the cost of living between the two nations.
Currently, Tanzania is harnessing its own gas deposits of a whopping 55 Trillion cubic feet.
