Uhuru: Why I Rushed to Jubilee Offices on Wednesday

Chrispen

Thursday, April 27, 2023 –Former President Uhuru Kenyatta today took issue with William Ruto’s administration for misusing the police to harass opponents.

After storming their Jubilee headquarters on Wednesday April 26 afternoon, the ex-head of State asked the government to keep off the police from political activities.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni addressing

He revealed that his coming to the scene today was to help fight for the rights of many suffering Kenyans under the current regime.

“So, I received a phone call from Kioni and update on what had transpired. I came to stand with him and our followers. I have no other duty than to protect our people’s rights. Let’s live in peace. We are peaceful people and wish to live in a peaceful country in co-existence with all the people of our party,” he added.

He was speaking this at the Jubilee headquarters after anti-riot police officers were seen surrounding the area to quell the rival factions of Jeremiah Kioni and EALA MP Kanini Kega.

Kega and Kioni each believes is the rightly appointed Jubilee Party secretary general and they are fighting each other to take over the office. Interestingly, Kanini is leaning on the William Ruto’s side.

And on accessing the party offices, Mr. Kenyatta condemned those seeking to cause chaos within the Jubilee party.

“Let us maintain peace. Police officers have better things to do other than coming here to restore peace. We don’t have issues with anyone, our mandate is to maintain peace.

“We want to inform them (police officers) to go back to their stations and not to be used by people who want to cause chaos. We have a mechanism as a political party with which to solve our problems and we shall solve. We shall have our meetings as and when. The membership will decide the future of the party.”
