Thursday, March 3, 2022 –Kung’u Muigai, Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin, has come out to withdraw the recent remarks he reportedly made against president’s willingness to support Raila Odinga for Statehouse job.
The Retired Captain currently the patron at the Kikuyu National Council of Elders was said to have claimed that Uhuru had erred by endorsing Odinga when it was clear that Kikuyus took oath never to support anyone from Oginga family.
In the long article carried in the Taifa Leo publication, Cpt (Rtd) Kung’u had revealed that GEMA Community had taken an oath in 1969 to never allow the Jaramogi’s bloodline to lead this nation.
However, Kung’u has now stated that he was disappointed with the way it was written because that is not what he wanted to mean.
In the article, the elder had allegedly stated that those who had taken the oath should first be cleansed before supporting Raila Odinga; else they will be punished one by one.
While trying to defend his sentiments, yesterday, Kung’u clarified that Uhuru was only 8 years old when the oath was taken and therefore this cannot be aimed at him.
He added that he has a lot of respect to Mr. Kenyatta both as the president of the Republic of Kenya and as a family member and therefore will always hold him with high esteem.
“My respect for the President of the Republic of Kenya is unquestionable and I have proved it over and over again. I have stood with him in all his political endeavours and there is no way, there is no way that I would criticize him for his actions or his decisions. It is unthinkable, moreso in the press,” said Muigai.
Kenyatta recently announced his desire to see Raila Odinga take over the leadership mantle of this nation from August 9 when the country will vote in the new government.
The president defended the move saying he could no longer entrust his deputy with leadership role because of his worrying conduct.
