Wednesday, April 5, 2023 –Kenyatta University’s, June Jerop, pursuing a master’s degree, was found dead on Monday, March 20, hours after leaving for a date with an unknown man.
Family and sources reported that the girl’s phone went off immediately she left the institution to meet her date at around 5PM that Monday, causing panic across.
“It was her friends who told us she informed them that she was going to meet a male friend, but did not disclose much more about it,” Jerop’s sister disclosed.
Her body would shortly be found dumped along the road in Nairobi before police ferried it to the City Mortuary.
Among other injuries, Jerop’s body was found swollen and blood-stained, raising questions as to whether she was caught in the nationwide demonstrations or this was a case of a murder-most-foul.
Her worried family which was looking for her allover would then file a missing person report at the local police station.
This was happening even as colleagues at work confirmed that it was not usual for Jerop to miss showing up at work.
This search would then end up at City Mortuary on March 24 where the deceased’s family and friends ended up positively identifying her body. They identified her through her clothes and hairstyle.
The deceased’s sister told Nation Africa that Jerop was a kindhearted person who did not deserve the cruelty from the suspects.
