Wednesday, April 17, 2024 –The wife of former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Jane Waigwe Kimani, and her brother Solomon Mutura Kimani are now under arrest.
Both suspects in the sh140 million Murang’a County graft case, were on Wednesday April 17, arrested just days after Mwangi wa Iria was asked to volunteer self at the integrity Center, Nairobi.
The EACC had, on Monday April 15, described the family of the ex-governor as being on the run despite the summons.
“EACC has ordered former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wairia, his spouse Jane Waigwe Kimani, and 6 other suspects, currently at large in an attempt to evade arrest, to immediately report to EACC Headquarters at Integrity Centre for processing in relation to the graft charges they are facing.
“Suspects required to appear on Tuesday, 16 April, 2024, 8:00am, without fail,” the statement from the EACC read in full.
The two who were arrested today Wednesday were presented before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court for plea-taking.
They are the Directors of Value View Ltd, one of the companies used as a conduit in the fraudulent scheme.
EACC is pursuing the other 6 suspects, including the former Governor, who failed to honour summons to appear before it on Wednesday, 8AM.
