Friday, December 16, 2022 –Former Murang’a County governor Mwangi wa Iria has announced plans to take over Mt Kenya kingpin position following Uhuru Kenyatta’s exit.

Speaking today Friday December 16, an angry Wa Iria pointed out that he will not allow anybody else to purport to be the Mt Kenya kingpin when his(Wa Iria’s) development track record speaks volume.

Falling short of mentioning Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the former Murang’a County boss noted that there is an individual, and a very powerful one in government, who is jostling to take over the kingship of their region and who is hellbent on fighting him through Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission EACC as well as the police.

“This is pure witch hunt. They want to soil my name and the work I accomplished in the 10 years I served as governor instead of focusing on implementing the promises they made to the people of Kenya,” he claimed.

Wa Iria went ahead to announce his readiness to faceoff with such individuals who now want to misuse State agencies and independent bodies for their own political benefit.

“They used EACC to cleanse themselves of huge cases and now want to dump all the waste on me. I will not be intimidated. I’m no longer in office. If they want a fight, we will fight,” Wa Iria added.

A visibly angry Wa Iria was speaking this following the Thursday court’s verdict by Lady Justice Esther Maina who froze two multi-million properties belonging to his wife, Jane.
