Wednesday, September 29, 2021 -A voter from Mombasa has moved to court seeking to punish Wafula Chebukati for refusing to open electoral servers for NASA Chief Raila Odinga as was ordered by Supreme Court in 2017.

The Coastal resident today Wednesday September 29 walked to court to secure orders that will see Mr. Wafula Chebukati held responsible for his 2017 actions and tasked to respond to why he couldn’t open servers as was asked. This could see him, fined, jailed or and removed from office.

Mr. Khalef Khalifa argues in his court papers that the Supreme Court is supreme and its orders have to be obeyed. It directed that Raila be given a read-only server access. The court even appointed IT experts to accompany Odinga during the exercise but still this did not happen.

Chebukati therefore violated Court orders and should therefore be punished accordingly as required by law.

“For the dignity of the court to be preserved, it is imperative that my application be heard urgently and in particular, Wafula Chebukati is immediately committed to civil jail for six months for being in violation of the said orders,” Khalifa prayers read.

This means that Chairman Chebukati could be on his way out of the Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC.

This development is coming at the time a section of Raila Odinga’s allies had warned that it would be difficult for Chairman to be allowed to preside over next polls due to trust issues.
