Friday, September 24, 2021 -Embattled Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was reportedly forced to flee a venue after supporters of her fierce rival Purity Wangui Ngirici stormed her meeting.
The vocal county chief is seemingly under siege barely two days after she declared to join Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance UDA Party which she wants to use to retain her seat.
According to Thursday September 24 reports, a group supporting Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici stormed her rally demanding she go back to her Jubilee Party since she is not needed in UDA.
A viral video and photos emerged on Thursday showing the Governor scamper for safety with police securing her back to her car.
Though its not quite clear what happened before she was reportedly chased away and her meeting dispersed, sources pointed at her bitter rivalry with Ngirici over Kirinyag succession politics.
“Let her go away. We will meet in the Debe so that we can decide who between her and Ngirici will make it. This is a UDA zone. UDA!,” a resident shouted.
Just a couple of days ago, Waiguru threatened to join Deputy President’s United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.
