Wednesday, September 8, 2021 -Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has continued to express her desire to dump Jubilee Party which she has now claimed could lead to her loss in 2022.
While making an appearance on Citizen Tv on Wednesday September 8, Ms Waiguru explained that the current state of affairs in their Jubilee Party was worrying and could not guarantee her a win in the next polls.
“The truth of the matter is that defending my seat, if the polls were held today, would be very difficult, and that is the truth of the matter, Jubilee needs to look internally at its issues in order to be acceptable to the people of Mt Kenya,” Waiguru stated.
She revealed that things on the ground were not looking so good for the people still in Jubilee Party unless something else is done this early.
“If I ran today on a Jubilee ticket and someone else ran on a different party, even if people felt I had performed, it would be hard to convince them to vote for me,” she said.
Reacting on the news about joining Ruto’s bandwagon, Waiguru noted that all the options were practical and only this will be declared in due course.
“For now, I am spending time on the ground listening to what the people want. One needs to be careful to make the right decision to survive politically. I am asking my people which ‘vehicle’ to use to secure my seat,” she added.
She also added that she still wants to remain on the gubernatorial race and not a 2022 running mate for anyone as it is being propagated out there.
The first time governor also took issue with her tormentors whom she said when they failed to remove her from office through an illegal impeachment process, they are back with another fight through the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission EACC.
