Monday, September 6, 2021 -Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has clarified her relationship with DP William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.
Sitting on Spice FM morning interview on Monday September 6, Governor Waiguru said it was a possibility that she could join them and this would be easily dictated by times.
She added that the political dynamics in the country can inform any of her next decision and that this is a matter of patience.
“I can’t say I would, I can’t say I would not. This is politics, but it’s a bit early. Let’s see what the ground looks like.
“I will be spending a lot of time on the ground, which will decide what direction I’ll take. The decision will also be influenced by the seat that I will go for,” she noted.
She went ahead to say that her quietness at the moment means she is taking a break to reflect on what best suits her people.
Waiguru explained that the loss of the Building Bridges Initiative BBI is a pointer to the tough times awaiting every politician who advocated for it and therefore need to rethink about it.
“The problem in leadership is that we keep going and never take time to think and take stock of where it is that you are at,” she acknowledged.
“I have been at the forefront of BBI, I have stood with the handshake against all odds, I have stormed upstream in Mt Kenya, here we are. We have lost twice,” she noted.
She blamed this failure to some people within the government who applied wrong means to drum up support for the Bill which has since sunk with public resources.
“BBI message didn’t seem to have trickled into their hearts. Is it the way we presented the message? You have to ask yourself these questions as a leader,” she stated.
The first time governor recently made public her new stand on the BBI saying she nolonger believes in it even if some individuals want to revive it at the Supreme Court.
