Friday, November 5, 2021 –Kiambu County gubernatorial race seems to be gaining heat every minute after the impeached Ferdinand Waititu openly announced his return ahead of 2022 general elections.
The announcement he made during Ruto’s tour has send Governor James Nyoro into panic mode owing to the fact Nyoro only took over after he(Ferdinand) was fired over economic irregularities.
Last Thursday November 5, Mr. Waititu made it clear that he is back to reclaim his seat which he believes was snatched away from his hands following his association with Deputy President William Ruto.
But Nyoro has asked the ex-governor to shelve his ambitions since he is yet to clear his name from the many corruption cases hanging over his neck.
Mr. Waititu has however maintained that his removal from office had nothing to do with corruption as claimed by Nyoro. He argued that the ouster was purely political due to his relationship with the second in command.
The former Embakasi lawmaker was removed from office by area members of County Assembly who accused him of gross misconduct, abuse of office and high handedness.
Just before he was finally impeached at the Senate, Waititu had been arrested alongside his wife Susan Wangari for defrauding County Government of Kiambu a whopping sh 588 million. The couple would later be freed on sh 15 million bail.
