Wednesday, November 3, 2021 –Ex-Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu is counting huge losses after losing sh 520 million CBD property through court.
Waititu had purchased the multi-million property when he was still in power as Kiambu boss but seemingly failed to meet the purchasing costs after he was removed from office a couple of years ago.
Media has established that the politician had only managed to pay 10 percent of the total value which amount totals to only sh 52 million.
In his Court argument, Waititu claimed that all financial institutions had declined to loan him the balance due to several graft cases under his shoulder. Among the cases is a company linked to him and which EACC flagged as very corrupt.
In the recovery orders, Waititu was compelled to do away with any deposit he had done with the property owners; this is because he had breached the contract terms as was agreed by both parties.
“The accused entered into a sale agreement without sufficient funds to complete the transaction. His lawyers ought to advise him on how to execute it and advise him on how he should have paid the balance within 90 days,” they argued.
The said sale agreement was approved by Waititu’s lawyers and therefore there was no valid excuse of extending sale terms further.
The former Embakasi lawmaker was ejected from Kiambu office after he was linked to several fraudulent deals that led to billions of lost public cash during his tenure. He would immediately be replaced by his deputy James Nyoro who is now running the affairs of the county.
Mr. Nyoro is also planning to vie in the 2022 race and signs are high that he could face off with his former boss Waititu and first governor William Kabogo who is also warming up to reclaim the seat.
