Tuesday, July 26, 2022 –A second key presidential candidate, Prof George Luchiri Wajackoyah, has officially pulled out of the presidential debate.
A statement seen by Homenews.co.ke from his Secretariat on Tuesday July 26 indicated that the party leader was annoyed with the manner in which the planners had profiled candidates in popularity hierarchy.
Party spokesman Wilson Muirani, noted that their party boss Prof Wajockoyah will not be subjected to ‘the joke of an already predetermined debate.’
“We would like to state that our presidential candidate Prof Wajackoyah will not attend the presidential debate because we will not subject the incoming President to the joke of an already predetermined debate,” read the statement.
On his part, the Roots Party boss openly took issue with the organisers whom he has described as skewed and who preach division for reasons well known to them.
“The notion that some candidates are trailing others or some leading others is baseless. We refuse to be counted as ‘others’ in this important democratic duty of seeking the presidency,” reads the statement.
His withdrawal is happening after the Azimio la Umoja coalition leader, Raila Odinga, officially stated that he won’t be part of the exercise which his rival Dr. William Ruto wants to dictate terms and conditions for the rest.
