Monday, March 27, 2023 – Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has claimed that police are also suffering in silence under this government.
Prof Wajackoyah said, instead of police officers “fighting” Azimio protesters, they should protect them because they are also “suffering” under President William Ruto’s leadership.
“Police officers are underpaid, they leave in poor houses, and are loaded with fake guns.
“The guns you are carrying are not the standard firearms that can pass consumer protection act in the United States. Your firearms are from Taiwan,” he said.
Speaking at Jesus Teaching Ministry in Embakasi where Azimio la Umoja leaders attended a church service on Sunday March 26 noon, the party leader hinted at gathering evidence in both photos and videos so that to use it against the State.
He added that he had reliable information from government that some police officers will be carrying grenades to harm peaceful protests.
“I am asking members of the public to use their phones tomorrow to take pictures of every police officer. Some of them will be carrying grenades.
“We want to preserve evidence. We will write to ICC. Bensouda (ICC Ex-prosecutor) was my classmate,” Wajackoyah said.
These sentiments came just hours after Inspector General of Police IG Japhet Koome said Azimio any demonstration around the country is banned.
