Monday, November 21, 2022 –Mt Kenya politician Ngunjiri Wambugu has distanced himself from a viral Twitter account which has been tweeting posts in his name.
Addressing the matter for the first time, Wambugu said he is not a Twitter man and that whosoever is running an account in his name to spread propaganda against his allies in Azimio should now stop.
He added that the handle that has been running disparaging tweets against Martha Karua and Raila Odinga doesn’t belong to him.
The former Nyeri Town lawmaker, therefore, wondered why major media outlets were falling in the trap by relying on social media to write news when they can easily reach to him through phone calls for clarification on any issue.
“You didn’t see the tweet you are quoting is not in my name.
“These guys need to stop with these fake accounts. When I have something to say, I always say it; without help,” he stated.
The politician was reacting to the many posts on Twitter which claimed that the poor performance in Jubilee Party around their Mt Kenya Region was necessitated by the name of Raila and his Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party.
The account further disparaged Ms Martha Karua indicating that she had under-performed by bringing very little votes on the Azimio table.
The said parody account also blamed the loss in Mt Kenya to brand Raila which is a hard-sell in Central Region.
“Supporting Raila Odinga cost Many eloquent Leaders from Mt Kenya their seats. With their weak running mate Martha Karua who couldn’t even bring 1,000 votes.
“We have no apology. No debt. We move on with President Ruto for two terms,” partly read the statement from the parody account that has since been flagged down.
Mr. Wambugu has, therefore, warned that whoever is associated with the malicious account should quickly stop because it may become costly very soon.
“I am currently selling tea and mandazi in Nyeri Town. Politics is for later,” Wambugu stated.
He therefore said he is busy with other things away from politics after suffering the loss.
