Wanjigi has Ulterior Motives in the Party – Sifuna

Wednesday, September 22, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement has claimed that Jimi Wanjigi is pressuring for a direct ticket making them to now doubt his intentions in the party.

ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna told Spice FM on Wednesday September 22 that the politician who is aspiring to fly their flag has exhibited suspicious signs which they will ask for an explanation in due course.

“His intention is not to support the party. He has ulterior intentions that he will tell us about when the time is right. An individual comes and says that I ascribe to these rules but I will only insist on a direct ticket,” Sifuna claimed.

Sifuna also added that time for applications for those who wanted to vie for the presidency was closed down with only two candidates showing interest and who are well known.

“When we opened the process, there were only two applicants, and they are known,” Sifuna stated, adding that Wanjigi has been a life member only for two and half years; since 2018.

Though the party is currently looking into his prayers, Sifuna said there is no guarantee that more time allocation would be allowed.

“First of all, he has not presented himself for the presidential ticket. Jimi Wanjigi is not a candidate for the party’s presidential ticket.

“He has made a request that I will submit to the National Executive Committee (NEC) in the next two weeks to have the process reopened so that he can apply,” said Sifuna.

Wanjigi is already out there popularizing his candidacy with tours lined up across the country. He has remained firm that he is the best person to pick up from where Odinga had reached. The businessman-turned-politician is championing for fresh leadership in both ODM and the country at large.
